Urid Gota (Matpe Beans Without Skin)
Urid Gota (also spelt as Urad Dal Gota or Urad Gota) is a type of split and dehusked urad dal, which is a type of lentil commonly used in Indian cooking. It is also known as Matpe beans without skin.
Urid Gota is made by splitting the whole urad bean and removing the outer skin. This process results in a white lentil with a creamy texture and mild flavour. It is commonly used in making popular dishes such as dal makhani, a creamy lentil dish made with urad dal and kidney beans, and idli, a steamed rice and lentil cake that is a popular breakfast item in South India.
